100,000 people have signed a petition calling for tougher drink drive penalties for drivers who kill someone while drunk. It was launched by the family of Miriam Briddon, a 21 year old killed by a drink driver in Ciliau Aeron near Ceredigion after his five-and-a-half year sentence was cut by six months. As the petition has now received over 100,000 signatures Parliament will consider debating the issue. The Home Office has said it is already considering the sentencing related to drink driving offences.
