Scotland public information campaign begins as Parliament prepares to approve lower drink drive limit

A high profile public information campaign has been launched in Scotland to inform the public of the new lower drink drive limit which will come into force on 5th December. 

The Scottish Parliament is debating the motion to lower the limit tomorrow (18th November) but has already approved it in principle. It has the support of all bar one of the political parties represented in the Parliament.

The motion will lower the blood alcohol limit from 0.08%BAC to 0.05%BAC bringing Scotland in line with most of Europe.

The limit in England and Wales will remain 0.08%BAC. As it will in Northern Ireland for the time being. TheNorthern Ireland Assembly is also expected to lower the limit next year.
