Thursday, March 10, 2016

Almost one in seven adults in Wales drink 14 units of alcohol in a single sitting - the advised amount for a week.

14% of adults drink 14 units in a single day. This is the equivalent of six pints of 4% Beer or six 175ml glasses of 13% wine. These figures from the Office of National Statistics put Wales slightly ahead of Scotland (13%) and substantially higher than England (8%).

By a small margin Wales was also shown to be the nation with the lowest proportion of teetotallers -20% - compared to England and Scotland at 21%.

In contrast, however, Wales was found to have one of the lowest levels of people who drank alcohol on a weekday (53%) - second only to London (51%).
