Easy to use and understand
The AlcoSense™ Elite 3 has been designed to be as easy as possible to use, fitting in the palm of your hand. To activate the breathalyser all you do is turn it on and it will count down 0 while it prepares the sensor, then it will display the blow symbol on screen. When it says blow, blow through the tube for approximately 6 seconds until it beeps. A few seconds later your results will be shown in increments of 0.01, giving you total clarity on your alcohol level.
The Elite 3 uses a colour coded results system and will even alert you when you are near or over your chosen limit which you can set to any of the three limits in place in the UK and Ireland, please see the screen shots below.

You can set the Elite 3 to alert you when you are close to or over any Irish or UK limit including 0.20‰BAC (Irish Limit for professional and novice drivers), 0.50‰BAC (Irish and Scottish limit) and 0.8‰BAC (rest of the UK and Channel Islands). If you travel between the territories you can easily change the Elite 3 between limits in seconds.
The latest Semi-Conductor sensor technology
Utilising the latest Semi-Conductor alcohol sensor technology, the Elite 3 features a premium 28mm2 alcohol sensor, using the highest specification of Semi-Conductor alcohol sensor technology available. It has taken the Group Test Winning reliability of the Elite 2 (What Car? Best Breathalyser under £100, Road Safety Analysis Group Test Winner, Diesel Car Group Test Winner, Fifth Gear Group Test Winner) and improved it.
The Elite 3 is now 30% more accurate than the Elite 2 and importantly, it is less sensitive to drift between calibrations; improving the long-term accuracy of the breathalyser.
6 second breath sampling for real world accuracy
AlcoSense Elite 3 features inbuilt air flow sensors to increase accuracy of the breathalyser in real world use, not only the lab. The most accurate concentration of alcohol in the breath is in the deep lung air and can only be measured after 1.2 litres of air has been blown out. The Elite 3 does not measure the volume of breath blown out (the Excel upward do), but it does sample the breath for 6 seconds which, for the average person, will include deep lung air.
If you do not blow for long enough the breathalyser will alert you and you can retake the test. Rival breathalysers at this price point typically take samples over less than 4 seconds and only sampling air from the throat. This can make them slightly easier to blow in to, but significanlty reduces accuracy.
Memory Recall
To make life even easier, the Elite 3 will store the last nine test results which can be easily accessed by pressing and holding the history button on the front of the breathalyser. Then scroll through the results by clicking the same button again.

The Elite 3 measures only 110mm (height) x 51mm (width) x 20mm (depth). It is powered by 3 x AAA batteries (included in the pack) meaning that you can use it anywhere at any time.
Auto Sensor Cleaning
Keeping a Semi-Conductor breathalyser sensor clean and free from oxidisation is essential for long term accuracy and performance. The AlcoSense Elite 3 automatically performs a sensor clean after every time it is used and periodically performs a deep sensor clean, helping to keep the sensor in top condition and reading at its most accurate and performing at its best throughout its lifetime.
Recalibration Alerts
The Elite 3 now features a calibration reminder after 12 months or 300 tests so you can easily remember to have your breathalyser recalibrated and ensure ongoing accuracy.

My wife got me the Alcosense elite 3 as a Christmas present from Halfords. A must is to read and fully understand the instructions. Once you have mastered them, the Alcosense elite 3 is simple and straightforward forward to use. Trying to work the device before fully reading the instructions is just asking for trouble as you can blow the sensor if you try and use it straight after having a drink. A brilliant little device that I will use just to make sure I’m ok to drive on the days I need to drive to work on those early morning starts.

I really like this breathalyser. I recently brought this from Halfords as I was going on a night out with friends but I had a driving lesson the next morning (I have passed my test now and not drinking). If I go out with friends on a rare night out I can check that I’m safe to drive the next morning so I don’t harm myself or other road users. Purchased this mainly so when I do on the rare occasion over indulge / drink to excess the night before that I know that I am safe to drive the morning after. Not worth ruining my life and potentially, god forbid, others by not checking I am 100% safe to drive.
Easy to use to device which provides clear and easy to understand /read results. Only slight criticism is it does take quite a while to boot up to a useable state, which I imagine on the more expensive models wouldn't be the case, but this is really a minor thingRating -

I bought the Elite 3 today from Halfords on the recommendation of a friend. One has to read the instructions carefully, but the instructions are clear. The only observation, and I hope it is a helpful one, is that the tubes into which one blows are hidden deep in the packaging. I initially thought that they were not included.
I have used the Camic breath testing device in police stations on a few occasions. I had 2 lagers tonight, waited an hour, and blew into the Elite 3, and the result was entirely consistent with the Camic readings.
One of the reasons for buying the kit is that I am going on a trip away with the lads to Scotland, where the drive drive limit is just over half of the England and Wales limit. I shall be testing on the morning after. Great value.Rating -

I've purchased after having an old alcohawk, and it started to be unreliable. This Elite 3 looks much better even is a bit slow. I guess it's a price for accurate reading (sensor self cleaning etc)

I bought this as an additional incentive to stop drinking. (Something I need to do for health reasons.) The aim is to register 'LO' every evening. It was dead easy to set up, simple to use and the display is very clear. The Elite 3 is also very compact and discreet, which is nice. All-in-all I'm very pleased with this little gadget! :-)

The instructions for setting up were a bit confusing.It would be better if it gave precise readings rather than LO or HI .I am an engineer ,everything in my world has to be precise.The first time I used it I drank 2 pints of beer,the device said I was over the limit,which is what I expected.The next day I had .75 of a pint and it gave a low reading.So it does what I want .I suppose for more precise readings I would have to pay for a more expensive device.

I bought Alcosense Elite 3 a couple of years ago before going on holiday. My plan was to travel to Italy and enjoy food/wine without being restricted from driving around the countryside. Cheap and tatty versions of this alcohol reader are of course available. You only get one chance at this so I purchased the best I could afford.
We live in Scotland so there was a bit of adjusting of minute toggle switches to set it up. Fiddling around with a paper clip to finally finish off the calibration.
That done we now have FULL Peace of Mind .
When this little beauty says NO it means NO BUT when it says Safe to drive ( or LO) then its all systems go!
I would have preferred the readout to show the exact figure in the screen rather than the all encompassing LO BUT I believe that if any alcohol is detected it reads out the figures then to give us a clue how far over we are.
Would I buy it again ? YES

We purchased this recently and overall have been impressed with it. It took us a little getting used to and the first few tests read really high (we hadn’t had a drink for a few days) but after re reading the instructions and decreasing the pressure we used to blow into it we got consistent lo reading as we would have expected. Well worth a look and purchase just make sure you read the instructions carefully !

I was surprised the setting up involved dip switches and was menu driven on the screen. I have had difficulties getting the flow rate right so that the device reads without a FLO error of correct. I seem to have only have one successful read out of 5. Otherwise seems very good.

I've tested this twice and both times it's given me the 'Lo' result (which was as expected). I've not tested it 90 mins/the day after drinking but the instruction manual is very clear on how to set it up and use it, and it's a weight off my mind to know I have it to hand. (NB AlcoSense offer customers a free pack of blow tubes if they leave a review - which is perhaps why these products have so many reviews - but they actively welcome both positive and negative reviews and just ask that customers are honest, so there's no reason to believe the reviews aren't genuine.)

I would never knowingly drive over the limit, but I was becoming increasingly concerned about 'morning after' breathalyser tests that I had read about and bought this to find out just where I stood on that.
I did a first test when it arrived, mid afternoon on a day I had had no alcohol and as expected it returned a 'Lo' reading. I then tried it one evening after a couple of drinks and wine with dinner - a time I would never have driven but wanted to see what it said - and as expected it showed me over the limit. So then I did a morning after test a couple of times after a night when I had drunk moderately heavily and was happily surprised to get a 'Lo' reading. I did a further test one morning after a few nights of drinking to see if there was a cumulative effect, and this time got a yellow reading, but below even the Scottish limit.
I feel now I understand much better the effects of alcohol and how long it lasts, and am more confident about the whole issue of drinking and driving.Rating -

Nice little product, great for peace of mind. The function to change the device to display mg/L instead of BAC is nice, however this can only be done by opening the battery compartment and flicking a very small switch (screwdriver or similar may be required). Also, the switch to change between English/Scottish limits requires a paperclip to operate.

Purchased an elite 3 from Halfords as a morning after tool.
I had problems with Flo fault and had to go onto YouTube for proper instructions.
Instructions should read-
When blow symbol is flashing ,Blow into breathalyser until the beep stops, letting you know that the pressure and flow of your breath is correct. Continue blowing until a second beep is heard, which lets you know the test is complete and you can view the results.
After getting correct user instructions, I found it a great bit of kit.
Gave it 4 out of 5 due to the unclear written instructions.Rating -

Bought the Elite 3 to replace the old version we had. Barely had to programme it, not like the old one, there was a lot more to do on that. Breathed too slowly the first time but then got the flow right. If you have any queries, AlcoSense are always at the end of the phone and very helpful. Really pleased with it.

We bought this for our son’s 18 birthday, so that he could check his alcohol level in the morning. Set up in ten minutes and easy to use. You need to blow steadily for close to 30 seconds. Then you get a green Amber or red Screen. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this for testing the 'morning after' - with 3 young male drivers who often go out and over indulge to the early hours (not when they are driving) and don't realise they are over the limit in the morning, this is a godsend to prove it to them. It's a new purchase and I'm hoping over time they will curb their drinking when they are driving the next day.

I have just upgraded my breathalyser to the Elite 3 and I must congratulate Alcosense not only on the design of the product, but also the prompt shipment.
The unit is well made and very user friendly, with the ability to easily change the various settings to meet the requirements of the various countries.
I even got a trade in value for my old unit, which made it even more satisfyingRating -

This is my second breathaliser from alcosense. I had the original elite model for a number of years and decided to upgrade to the elite 3. The new model is a similar size and does pretty much what the original did. I used the calibration service for my last breathaliser and had no problem with the service. Not much more to say really. Great product that does what it's supposed to do.

Bought the Alcosense Elite 3, two weeks ago, and can highly recommend this little machine. All you need to do is read the small booklet, set the alcohol limit for your country, and away you go, so simple and easy to use. I've been self-isolating at home for months now, and thought I would test out the machine in different scenarios. I think the big one for many drivers is the morning after scenario, so as if I was going into the office (driving), I tested myself most mornings and was usually always clear and green for go, but one morning it picked up that I had still too much alcohol in my system, and blew red. Obviously wouldn't have gone near the car if I had to go into the office, but just shows that this little thing is a potential Licence saver. Extremely pleased with this product and at a decent price point as well. Thanks.

I set this up the day I got it. Turns out I got drunk that night. I was about to bounce out the house in the morning and off to shops in my van and though 'I'd better just check' boom over the limit. Glad I checked. What with converting my van into a camper and me and partner like to have a drink when we're away it gives such good piece of mind and comfort to know I won't be losing my license the morning after a drink.
The unit itself is super simple to use even for a monkey like me.

It is light, compact and very simple to use. The actual breathalysing procedure is simple and the on screen instructions couldn't be clearer. There are also some tubes in the box which is a nice touch.

Upgraded from elite to elite 3, super easy to set up but to be honest I prefer the usability of the elite - you can’t see the screen on elite 3 whilst using it like you could with previous model. But all in all happy with purchase.

Now I would not be without one. It's a doddle to use straight from the box with a very clear display and simple instructions. It's no replacement for common sense though if there's any doubt you can now give it a value and stay put.

I do like a couple of G & Ts when I get home from work. Always unsure the morning after if I am above the limit. This product has always shown "Lo" in the morning which makes me feel much safer.

I have owned a very similar one for quite a few years and decided to get a new one. It looks a bit nicer and performs just as well. Great value but I won't drive until it says Lo as the tolerance is quite high.

Seemed to be working OK, used maybe 15 times as part of a legal custody agreement. Last two times should of picked up something but read zero, can't find how to recolaborate it, short of buying yet another device. So it's not the best.

Good all round product, I agree with one review which says it takes a few goes to get the flow right, but that's easily mastered, the other thing is it sometimes goes through the last 3 seconds of the set-up sequence a few times before allowing a test which can be annoying!

Just purchased my first breathalyser and I am very impressed with the overall package. Fits nicely in my handbag and I am looking forward to having piece of mind the morning after a night out. Only criticism would be that it comes with no blow tubes. Otherwise a nice compact gadget.

Customer service is very good and online queries are responded to rapidly. The first unit was faulty, but replacement was arranged quickly & without any quibble. The replacement unit seems fine so far. It's easy to use, but bear in mind that you may have to allow a few minutes for the unit to self-clean and warm up before a test is possible. The breath tubes are single-use plastic; it would be nice if they were washable/reusable. The packaging is a clever piece of cardboard origami with very minimal (and recyclable) plastic.

Was given as a present this Christmas and found it very easy to set up and use. When I used it the next morning about midday, it read 0.00 in the green, but I felt I could still detect alcohol on my breath. Maybe I am just being overcautious as I have never used anything like this before.

I first bought an alcosense in 2014 and have just upgraded it. Very pleased with the new model and the team at alcosnese are very helpful with any queries. I would agree that a pin would have been helpful and I was also unable to find how to submit a review to claim the free tubes.

Good quality and easy to use. Excellent customer service. They suggested this model to replace my Special Edition model which they couldn't recalibrate. Miss one or two features of my previous model - didn't have to 'waft' the other model when it performed it's clean after a test & the BAC limit could be set using the on screen menu. Despite these differences happy with the product.

Bought an AlcoSense Elite, 2 years ago, has been well looked after with little use, sent it in for calibration and was told they couldn’t calibrate it, and I needed to buy an ‘upgrade’
It was discounted, but I’m still not happy that something I paid good money for, thinking it was good quality, only two years ago

I bought this to replace my trusty old Elite 2. The setting up seemed a bit more complex than the old model but, having done that, it seems to work well. I had to contact alcosense to find out how to post a review however since I couldn’t find this information in the booklet.
